Alford D. "A.D." Bracken, age 85, of Gholson, passed away early Thursday morning, July 16, 2026 at his residence.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.
A.D. was born July 19, 1940, in Madill, Oklahoma, the son of the late Milton Bracken and Delma (Perryman) Price. He grew up in a close-knit community and graduated from Zaneis High School near Wilson, Oklahoma, in 1958. On November 5, 1958, A.D. married Bobbye Hurley, with whom he shared a loving partnership until her passing on October 17, 2008. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home filled with love and laughter. A.D. dedicated much of his life to his calling as a minister, serving with compassion and commitment in the Church of the Nazarene in Whitney and Hillsboro. In addition to his ministry, he spent over 30 years as a self-employed carpenter, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a passion for craftsmanship. Outside of his professional life, A.D. enjoyed the simple pleasures like playing golf, exploring the great outdoors, and forging connections with new friends. But perhaps his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Luther Bracken and wife Kim, Mark Bracken and wife Sandy, David Bracken, Stephen Bracken, and Cathy Bracken; his grandsons, Brandon Bracken and Seth Bracken and wife Erica; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local charity of your choice.
