Thelma Grones

Thelma L. "Peggy" Grones, age 78, of Elm Mott, passed away early Saturday morning, November 22, 2008 at a Rockwall nursing home. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Boesche officiating. Burial will follow at Closner Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Grones was born February 2, 1930 in Ross, the daughter of Fred Charles and Elenora (Willig) Blaschke. She attended school in Ross and graduated from West High School in 1947. On June 25, 1949 she was united in marriage to Paul Jerry Grones. They resided in the home they built in Ross since 1961. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2003. She was employed as a sales clerk, cook, and provided health care services to the elders in her community and surrounding communities. Peggy was a homemaker enjoying cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, crafts, writing poetry, writing short stories for children and attending garage sales and estate sales. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bellmead. Peggy especially loved spending time with her family; she was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and has many dear friends. She will truly be missed. Her parents and a sister, Ellen Gregory, also preceded her in death. Survivors include, two daughters, Karen Higgins and husband Rick of Rowlett and Sandra Perkins and husband Jayden of Midland; two sons, Dwayne Grones and wife Cindy of Waco and Douglas Grones and wife Mary of Ferris; two sisters, Henrietta Willis of Waco, and Frieda Cypert of Mesquite; four grandchildren, Troy and Beth Grones and Noah and Kelsee Perkins; and eight nieces, twelve nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Closner Cemetery Association. Pallbearers are Jay Kralik, Gary Willis, David Willis, Ricky Grones, Donnie Grones, and Ronnie Grones. The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude for the care given Peggy by the staff of Rockwall Nursing Care Center and Compassionate Hands Hospice.
