Sieglinde Smith, age 79, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 at her residence. Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Bold Springs Cemetery near West, with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating. Sieglinde was born February 2, 1941 in Germany, the daughter of the late Johannes and Schola (Heijen) Schoen. She attended schools in Germany, prior to attended dental assistant training. On April 23, 1979 she was united in marriage to William H. "Bill" Smith in Hurst, Texas. Sieglinde was a proud member of the Hummel Club and was a model for many drawings by Sister Hummel. Sieglinde enjoyed traveling around the United States giving talks to various Hummel clubs, designing quilts and attending quilt shows. She published a book about her quilting and won a worldwide quilting competition in Houston. Sieglinde is preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Taylor; and a daughter, Agnes Christina Taylor. Survivors include her beloved husband of 41 years, Bill Smith of Carlisle, PA, formerly of West, TX; two daughters, Martha Gillispie of Oklahoma City, OK and Barbara Rook of Justin, TX; a step daughter, Karie Brothers and husband Jim; a sister, Hanauer of Germany; a brother-in-law, Jerry Smith and his wife Nancy of Waco; a sister-in-law, Mary Beth Bailey; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
