Shirley Jean (Bailey) Manske, age 63, of Elm Mott, passed away early Monday afternoon, March 4, 2012 at her residence. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Walling Cemetery near Malone, with the Rev. Bill Woods officiating. Mrs. Manske was born June 9, 1949 in Houston, the daughter of Joseph Payden and Lela Elizabeth (Mosley) Bailey. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and received an Associate Degree in clerical work from Hill Junior College in Hillsboro. She later went back to Hill and received her Licensed Vocational Nursing Degree. In her nursing career, Shirley worked for West Rest Haven and did Home Healthcare in the West, Waco and Temple areas. She also worked as a school nurse for Texas Christian Academy in Waco. Shirley opened up a daycare at her home for a few years called Primary Essentials. On June 10, 1972, she was united in marriage to Charles W. "Butch" Manske. Shirley's greatest love was her family, especially watching her grandson Coty grow up, play his guitar and play baseball. Shirley also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her good friend, Ann Slovak. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elm Mott where she taught sign language, Sunday School Classes and helped with the Christmas programs each year. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard Bailey and Paul Fuglistaler; and a sister, Lorrine Van Huss. Survivors include her beloved husband of 40 years, Butch Manske of Elm Mott; a daughter, Veronica Millsap of Elm Mott; her grandson, Coty Millsap; two brothers, Joe Bailey and Dick Bailey; a sister, Anna Andrews; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coty Millsap Scholarship Fund, Texas Christian Academy, 1100 E. Lakeshore Dr., Waco, TX 76708.
