Robert "Buck" Stanislav, age 72, of West, passed away late Sunday, September 18, 2005 at his home with family by his side. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home by Rev. Vincent Chacko, IMS. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by V.F.W. Post 4819 of West. Robert was born on January 26, 1933 in Abbott, the son of Joseph and Martha (Mashek) Stanislav. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from West High School in 1950. In serving his country, he was in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, serving during the Korean War on the USS George K. McKenzie and USS Nicholas. He married Barbara Jean Parma on October 13, 1956 in Waco. At the time of his death, they were making special plans to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. He worked as a PowerHouse Foreman at General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco for over thirty years until his retirement in 1985. He was very active in many community and civic organizations, including V.F.W. Post #4819, where he served as an Honor Guard, American Legion, K.J.T., West Fraternal Organization, Catholic Life, Knights of Columbus, where he served as a 3rd & 4th Degree Knight, The Czech Folk Dancers of West, and a past member of the St. Mary's Quarterback Club. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where he served as an usher. Robert loved being around people and celebrating his Czech culture. He enjoyed spending his leisure time with his family and friends who loved him very much. Robert & Barbara could often be found traveling the country and dancing with their special friends from the "Polka of A" group. He loved spending time with his eight grandchildren, camping, fishing and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns. He also enjoyed homemade wine making, and his vintages were often highly sought after for community benefits and auctions. Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Stanislav of West; one son, Steven Stanislav of Austin; three daughters, Patricia Neslony of Elm Mott, Janice Roessler and her husband Mark and Donna Donnell and her husband Kevin, all of Ross; one brother, Joe Stanislav and his wife Mildred of Waco; eight grandchildren, Alicia and Amanda Neslony, Keri and Justin Roessler, Brett, Hailey, Kourtney and Kambry Donnell; four nieces; one nephew; and many friends. A brother, Alfred "Fritz" Stanislav most recently preceded him in death and his wife Margaret. Active pallbearers will be Marvin Gerik Sr., Joe Edd Grimm, Joe Mashek, Wesley Gaitlin, Kenneth Popp, Paul Neslony, Johnny Mazanec and Albert Banik. Honorary pallbearers will be V.F.W. Post 4819 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center.
