Jeffrey Charles "Jeff" Beck, age 43, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, suddenly left this world to be in Heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 27, 2015 in Baton Rouge. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 2, at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Derek Dake officiating. A private burial for the family will follow at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday July 1, at Aderhold Funeral Home. Jeff was born March 31, 1972 in Waco to Charles Beck of Royse City, Texas and Linda Pavelka Peterson of Hewitt. He grew up in Northcrest and attended Connally Elementary School and Connally Junior High until the 9th grade when he transferred to Mart High School where he graduated in 1990. He joined the United States Marine Corps after graduation and proudly served his country in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. On August 10, 2007 he was united in marriage to Tammy (Ferguson) Toups. Jeff owned his own trucking business, Big Fish Transport, which he started in 2006. He loved being on the open road and his own boss. He has virtually driven his rig in every part of America. He particularly loved driving in the state of Maine and enjoyed eating lobster rolls at Dysart's, a well-known national truck stop. Jeff enjoyed cooking and doing prison ministry. He led many people to Christ through his ministry. He loved the Lord with all his heart. He was known as a very giving person who enjoyed visiting with friends. Jeff loved to laugh and he was very good at it. He was a member of the Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge. Jeff's wife, Tammy Beck is an ordained minister and she and Jeff planned on doing ministry together for the rest of their lives. Jeff is survived by his parents, his wife of eight years, Tammy Beck of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a daughter, Jaelyn Beck of Chalk Bluff; his second father, Judge Walter "Pete" Peterson of Hewitt; a stepson, William Toups of Baton Rouge; two step daughters, Misti Degraeve and husband Derek of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Wendy Crain and husband Will of Cypress-Fairbanks. Jeff was Paw-Paw to seven grandchildren he loved and cherished so much with another grandson on the way; also surviving are his sister, Jessica Beck of Bryan; his grandmother, Norma Tinkle of Hewitt; his brother, Walter Peterson Jr. and wife Missy of Tampa, Forida; sister, Amanda Peterson of Kansas City, Missouri; aunts, Tonette Holle Stem and husband Wiley of Lott and Elaine Karnis and husband Wayne of Otto, and Sandra Neally and son Brad of Coolidge; and cousins, Monica Odenbach of Lufkin, Mandy Holle of Cameron, and Melanie Karnis of Waco. Jeff is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alton and Flo Beck; a maternal grandfather, Tony Pavelka; and his uncles, Jimmy Holle and Roy Neally. Pallbearers are William Toups, William Crain, Tom Kish, Derek Dake, Gary Holton, and Josh Gentry. The family truly appreciates all of the condolences everyone has extended. Jeff was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
