Gladys Lela Mcghee

Gladys Lela McGhee, age 101, of Garland, passed away late Friday morning, June 12, 2009 at a Plano hospital. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Bold Springs Cemetery near West, with Rev. Ann Hitt officiating. Mrs. McGhee was born December 10, 1907 in Powell, the daughter of Joe Pierce and Ada (Horn) Phillips. On July 14, 1928 she was united in marriage to Thomas Caldwell "T.C." McGhee in Garland. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1993. Gladys worked for many years as a secretary for several businesses in Dallas. She was a member of the Highland Park Methodist Church. Over her century of life, Gladys touched many lives, helping when and as she could, and was blessed with a wide circle of friends, some of whom came to tolerate her unpredictable approach to bridge. Her parents; two sons, Thomas McGhee Jr. and Joel McGhee; and two brothers; also preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, James McGhee and wife Aleta of Dallas; two grandchildren, Kevin McGhee and wife D'Neesa and Scherri McGinn and husband Frank; two great grandchildren, Alexa and Kyle McGhee; and many, many dear friends. All the family wishes to thank Dorothy Mohrle for the loving friendship she shared with Gladys.
