George J. "Boogie" Hanzlicek, Jr., age 47, of West, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 near Penelope. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Hanzlicek was born January 5, 1964 in Hillsboro, the son of George J. and Leona (Sulak) Hanzlicek Sr. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West High School in 1982. On May 5, 1984 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Sebik in West. George worked for Huck International in Waco, a division of Alcoa, for the past 20 years. Prior to that, he worked for General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. George enjoyed watching NASCAR, racing go-karts, working on old cars, and sitting down to a spirited family poker game. He especially loved spending time with his children, and was so proud of all their accomplishments. George is preceded in death by his father, George J. Hanzlicek, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Carolyn Hanzlicek; a son, Heath Hanzlicek; a daughter, Heather Hanzlicek; his mother, Leona Hanzlicek, all of West; two sisters, Janice Glatter and husband Donnie of Comanche and Debbie Debbendener and husband Dennis of West; two sisters-in-law, Tammy Denton of Waco and Linda Sebik of Ft. Worth; nephews, Stephen Glatter and wife Shannon, Justin Glatter and wife Kristen, Jeff Debbendener and Thomas Denton; nieces, Crystal Debbendener, Karen Hill and husband Travis, and Addy Denton; great nephews, Lance Hopper and Ty Glatter; a great niece, Baylee Hopper; and many other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Harry Hanzlicek, Kenneth Webre, Johnny Stead, Louis Webre, Stephen Glatter, Justin Glatter, Daryl Hoelscher and Richard Busby. Honorary pallbearers are his nieces, nephews, and friends and co-workers at Huck International. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a college fund for his children, Heath and Heather at Pointwest Bank.
