Fred Rauschuber, age 82, of Granbury, formerly of West, passed away peacefully Monday evening, September 16, 2024 at home with his family.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Mike Robinius officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Fred was born on December 10, 1941 the third child to William and Marguerite (Girard) Rauschuber. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in West until 8th grade, then became a West Trojan where he was an outstanding guard on the football team and a catcher on the baseball team. Being honored as all-district in both sports, Fred was offered a scholarship, but not enough to cover all expenses, so he opted to pay his own way and work. He went to the University of North Texas to become a coach and teacher. In his second year, he fell in love with Sue Krider. They married in 1962 after only knowing each other for six months. Fred then continued his education, earning a Masters Degree in Education and continuing post-graduate work, while obtaining multiple certifications. Fred coached in Irving and then became Director of Adult Education for the Ft. Worth Independent School District. In 1979, he accepted a job with the Burleson Independent School District where he served as Athletic Director, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent, before retiring in 1998. A few years later, he and Sue moved to Granbury. In 2004, they established the R&R Ranch in Graford. Fred was very generous to his family and friends, sharing not only possessions but his time, attention, and knowledge. He was always the teacher and coach.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ed Rauschuber; a sister, Rosemary Banik; and parents-in-law, Bud and Melvie Krider.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Sue Rauschuber of Granbury; a son, Al and Sherry Rauschuber of Poolville; a daughter, Amy and Lee Davis of Burleson; his grandchildren, Colt Rauschuber, Seth Rauschuber and wife Kelsey, and Brandon Davis and fiancee Jacey; his great grandchildren, Mason, Eli, and Krider Rauschuber; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and a faithful companion, Bella.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Anglican Church, or Friends for Animals, both in Granbury.
