Edward Rauschuber, age 84, of Lake Dallas, formerly of West, joined our heavenly father on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 with a Memorial Service immediately following, at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West.
Edward was born on November 7th, 1939 to William and Marguerite (Girard) Rauschuber in Tours, Texas. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and would later graduate from West High School in 1959. During his high school years, he lived a joyous life playing football and running track. It was also at West High where he would meet his future wife Geraldine who he would spend the next sixty-two years loving. After high school, he went on to serve in the United States Army Reserves while continuing his career in firefighting. Edward married his high school sweetheart Geraldine on September 15th, 1962. After serving in the army reserves for eight years he was discharged honorably as a Staff Sergeant in 1965. The following years would serve to show his crafting expertise as he became a carpet representative for Bigelow and would end his career in the underground utilities. In his free time, he enjoyed adventurous activities including hunting and fishing. These were just a few of his favorite activities to do with his two sons Alan and David Rauschuber. Alan married Dawn and blessed the Rauschuber with their first beautiful grandchild Devin Rauschuber. David married Stephanie and they were blessed with a second granddaughter, Hannah Rauschuber.
Edward was a man of many talents ranging from racing on the first track in Elm Mott, racing a canoe down Brazos River, receiving his private pilot's license, and so much more. He later went on to be a reserve deputy for Denton County Sheriff's Department. However, some would argue his greatest talent was being Santa Claus to hundreds of children for 10 years. Edward brought more smiles to families than many people will ever in this lifetime. He also enjoyed spending time restoring his 1954 Bel Air convertible Chevy which won many trophies throughout its years.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Rosemary; and a brother-in-law Albert Banik.
He is survived by his wife; his children and their families; a brother Fred Rauschuber and his wife Sue; along with many loving nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ann Haven Hospice Care in Denton, Texas.
