E.J. Bartosh

Ernest J. "E.J." Bartosh, age 80, of Joshua, passed away early Thursday morning, August 1, 2024 at his residence.


A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Will Straten as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery.


E.J. was born December 15, 1943 in Ft. Worth, the son of Ernest Bartosh and Rosie (Mynar) Bartosh. He attended Mt. Carmel School in Ft. Worth and was a 1961 graduate of North Side High School in Ft. Worth. On November 7, 1963 he was united in marriage to Virginia Straten in Arlington. E.J. was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Burleson. He was also a member of SPJST Lodge #154 in Ft. Worth. He owned and operated Bartosh Trucking for many years and was involved in the transportation industry throughout his life. From beer delivery and heavy hauling, to delivering custom conversion trucks for Western Hauler, he enjoyed driving. He was especially proud to be part of the Western Hauler family and cherished the memories and friends he made as he traveled the country. E.J. had a love of animals, in particular the horses he owned, bred and raised, as well the cattle he cared for at the farm. He was happiest when he was with his family and enjoyed cooking out and fishing with them.


E.J. is preceded in death by his parents; special aunt and uncle, Charlie and Mary Mikuda; two sons, Van Bartosh and Cody Bartosh; and a brother, August “Sonny” Bartosh.


Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Virginia Bartosh of Joshua; children, Sherry Bartosh and San Juan Becera of Ft. Worth, and Sonya and Jamie Flores of North Richland Hills; a sister, Rosa Davis of Penelope; grandchildren, Joseph Bartosh and Leslie Thumma, Andrew Bartosh and Chelsi McCreary, Hillary and Zach James, Austin and Leslie Becera, Matthew and Penny Flores, Mitchell and Danyelle Flores, and Ethan Flores; great grandchildren, Cameron, Eli, Lucy and Preston; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Active pallbearers are Larry Roberts, Scott Molder, Teddy Mynar, David Bartosh, Mark Mynar, and Randy Straten. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin Cemetery Association.


The family would like to acknowledge his physicians, nurses and care providers at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas for the outstanding care and kindness they provided throughout the years.
