Dorothy E. Holacka

Dorothy E. "Dolores" Holacka, age 91, of Austin, passed away late Thursday evening, November 23, 2023 at her residence.


A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. John Boiko as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.


Dorothy was born October 15, 1932 in West, the 7th child of Joseph and Marie (Foitek) Hanzelka. She attended schools in Cottonwood and West and was a 1951 graduate of West High School. On January 21, 1952 she was united in marriage to Eugene Holacka in West. Eugene preceded her in death on February 28, 1985. Dorothy was a member of Saint Louis King of France Catholic Church in Austin. She was also a member of the Austin Czech Historical Association and the KJZT Society #59 in Ft. Worth. She was a bookkeeper for Archenhold and W.M. Auto Supply in Ft. Worth for over 33 years before retiring in 1998. Dorothy enjoyed dancing, listening to Czech music, cooking, baking, making some awesome kolaches, camping, and attending family reunions. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.


Dorothy is also preceded in death by parents; brothers, Raymond and Jimmy Hanzelka, sisters, Lois Rejcek, Lillian Traywick, Christine Hanzelka, and Martha Snapka; and a brother-in-law, James Holacka.


Survivors include her children, Helen Oelrich and husband Donald of Austin, and Donald  Holacka and wife Mary of Saginaw; her grandchildren, Michele DiFabio, Craig Oelrich and wife Amanda, Denise Adams and husband John, and Jason Connally; her great grandchildren, Amanda Durgin and husband Brian, John Adams, Samantha Adams, Max Oelrich, and Millie Oelrich; her sister-in-law, Jerryline Holacka; and many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Pallbearers are Teddy Hanzelka, Patrick Snapka, J.R. Reddell, Ryan Reddell, Craig Oelrich, and J.T. Adams.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery Association, c/o Aderhold Funeral Home Inc., P. O. Box 423, West, Texas 76691.
