Don Odle

Donald Ray "Don" Odle, age 76, of Glen Rose, passed away early Thursday morning, March 9, 2023 at his residence.


A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2023 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West.


Don was born May 30, 1946 in West, the son of C.G. "Ned" and Jessie Mae (Walls) Odle. He was a 1964 graduate of West High School and attended Hill Junior College, McLennan Community College, graduated from the Waco Police Academy in 1967, and from the VA Federal Police Academy in 1992. Don was a lifelong resident of the Waco area until he moved to Glen Rose, Texas in 2013 with his beloved wife Kay. Don was a police officer for 35 years for several departments including the West Police Department and then served for 10 years with the Salvation Army Halfway House until retiring in 2013. Don enjoyed collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia, traveling all over the world, playing Texas Hold 'Em, going on cruises, cooking, playing the Lottery, and collecting coins, guns and knives. He was also a dedicated fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and Baylor Bears.


Don is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Odle.


Survivors include his wife, Kay Norman of Glen Rose; his children, Tammy (Odle) Yakesch and husband Dan Sehon of Eddy, Jeff Odle and wife Melissa of Eddy, and Amber (Odle) Wilson and husband Vincent of Round Rock; a sister, Doris Jean Dickerson; grandchildren, Rebecca (Yakesch) Wright, Hunter Odle, Garrett Odle, and Megan Odle; great grandchildren, Landon Wright and Ellie Odle; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glen Rose Animal Shelter or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
