Charles A. Odle, age 70, of Bellmead passed away early Monday morning, May 28, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Robert "Bob" Godfrey officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at White Rock Cemetery near Ross, conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Charles was born March 11, 1937 in Ross, the son of Ned and Jessie Mae (Walls) Odle. He attended schools in West and graduated from West High School in 1956. Charles then enlisted in the United States Army reserves where he served until 1965. On August 9, 1997 he was united in marriage to Virginia Lander in Bellmead. Charles was the showroom manager for Watson Electric Company in Waco for over 33 years until he retired in 2002. After his retirement, he loved to substitute teach at LeVega Independent School District. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Charles was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 478. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing dominoes, especially 42 with his friends, cooking, gardening, and yardwork; he always had the perfect lawn. Charles loved animals, especially his cats, Miss Grey Kitty, his beloved companion and friend, his other cat, Baby Love; and all his dogs, especially Elvira. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his beloved wife, Virginia Odle; a daughter, Lynette Rauschhuber and her husband John Jr. of Chalk Bluff; a step daughter, Deena Zimmerhanzel and husband A.J. of Bastrop; two step sons, Randy Geltmeier and wife Beverly and Keith Geltmeier and wife Roberta, all of Bastrop; a brother, Don Odle of Bellmead; a sister, Doris Dickerson of Waco; a grandson, Aaron Rauschhuber; six step grandchildren, Shelly Geltmeier, Megan Geltmeier, Ryan Geltmeier, Bradley Geltmeier, Taner Zimmerhanzel, and Bailey Zimmerhanzel; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and several friends. Active pallbearers Ronnie Slovak, Bernie Slovak, Kevin Owens, Keith Owens, Walt Mellgren Jr., and Wendell Conner. Honorary pallbearers are Martha and Eugene Slovak and Carol Owens. Memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends, Providence Hospice and the American Heart Association.
