Carl E. Niemeyer

Carl E. Niemeyer, age 80, of West, passed away late Friday evening, February 16, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson with Rev. Todd Pick officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Carl was born November 11, 1937 in Waco, the son of Henry and Ada (Connally) Niemeyer. He attended Gholson schools and graduated from West High School in 1956 prior to attending Baylor University. He served his country with the United States Army Reserves for six years. On March 25, 1961 he was united in marriage to Ethel Chupik in West. Carl worked as a senior machine designer for Butler Services at M&M Mars in Waco for over 25 years, as a structural steel designer for CH2M Hill in Anchorage, Alaska for several years and for various companies until his retirement in 2013. Carl was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson, where he had served as treasurer, led Bible study and helped with the Harvest Festival. He enjoyed motorcycles, cars, photography, wood working, traveling, coaching, fishing, golfing, riding bikes, rock hounding, genealogy and playing games with his family. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carl is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and John Niemeyer; and a sister, Jeannette Richardson. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Ethel Niemeyer of West; his children, Carla McLain and husband Tom of West and Michael Niemeyer and wife Lauren of Denver, CO; a brother, Harry Niemeyer and wife Barbara; a sister-in-law, Alta Niemeyer; a brother-in-law, Maben Richardson; grandchildren, Robert Niemeyer and wife Bonnie, Caitlyn McLain and Tara Niemeyer; great grandchildren, Lisa, Drake and Gwynavere Niemeyer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including, Jack and Faye Dell Clements. Pallbearers are Rex Niemeyer, Delbert Richardson, Derek Richardson, Travis Niemeyer, Walton Ballew and Vance Ballew. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church of Gholson or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Texas Oncology, Dr. Okani and his staff, Kindred Hospice and Right at Home.
