Bob M. Ingram, age 70, of Dallas, formerly of Waco, passed away late Saturday evening, July 3, 2010 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. Mr. Ingram was born November 9, 1939 in Waco, the son of John Dee and Thelma (Blann) Ingram. Bob, also known as "Poppy" to his adored grandchildren, spent his childhood in Falls County at Big Bottom Creek, the setting for the many exciting tales he shared with them. He graduated from Waco High School in 1957. On February 9, 1963 in West, Bob married the love of his life, Betty Mashek and they shared 47 happy years together. Bob and Betty lived in the Arlington and Ft. Worth area for many years. In 2005 they moved to Dallas to be closer to family, and to attend their grandchildren's many sports and cheering events. Spending over 30 years working in his flooring business, The Ingram Company, Bob was known for his warm smile, quick wit, and great personal service. A devotee to the movies and music of the 40's, 50's and 60's, Bob enjoyed being a source of information to his many friends. Anyone ever knowing Bob, "Bobby", or "Poppy" will never forget the genuine warmth, the hugs that usually went with his trademark, "Hey, how ya doin', kid!", and the twinkle in his eye as he told his legendary stories. His favorites include his boyhood days in Big Creek Bottom, his glory days spent with lifetime friends in Waco High School's Class of 1957, or how he would share his lottery winnings with us all when his ship came in. Survivors include his beloved wife and best friend, Betty Mashek Ingram; a son, Mike Ingram Gassaway and wife Cheri; two daughters, Susan Lacina and husband Scott, and Shannon Dawson and husband David, all of Dallas; a sister, Wanda Willis of Axtell; seven grandchildren, Kate Lacina, John Scott Lacina, Jake Ingram Dawson, Emme Dawson, Shana Gassawy, Chloe Gassaway and Fawn Hood and her daughter Taylor; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob loved his family with such a passion that his absence will be forever felt, yet his love will remain constant in our hearts. Memorials may be made to his grandchildren's school, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, 3741 Abrams Road, Dallas, Texas 75214.
