Bennie Mynar, Sr.

March 29, 1942 — December 6, 2022

Bennie Mynar Sr., age 80, of Abbott, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 6, 2022 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco.


A rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. John Boiko as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.


Bennie was born March 29, 1942 in West, the son of Ben and Helen (Pavlas) Mynar. He attended Penelope and Abbott schools. On September 2, 1968 he was united in marriage to Lillie Marie "Lil" Hromadka in West. Bennie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, K.J.T. Society #31 in West, and SPJST Lodge 6 in Cottonwood. He worked hard as a farmer and rancher for many years, driving his Case tractors and Dodge trucks. Bennie enjoyed his hunting and racing dogs, raising his horses and cattle, attending auction sales, hunting, fishing, watching RFD TV and rodeos, and visiting with people. He was a friendly man who never met a stranger. He especially loved spending time with family and getting together for special occasions.


Bennie is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Joe Mynar Sr.; parents-in-law, Raymond and Lillie Hromadka; and a brother-in-law, Wilfred Anton Rieger.


Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Lillie Marie "Lil" Mynar of Abbott; children, Stephanie Matus and husband Mike of West, Bennie Mynar Jr. and wife Cristy of Abbott, Becki Price of Rosebud, and Stacie Davis and husband Zach of Abbott; brother, Marvin Mynar Sr.; sisters, Jeanette Rieger, Bernadette Kutscherousky and husband Tommy, Helen Snider and husband Edward, and Gloria Allen; sisters-in-law, Barbara Mynar, Rose Mynar, and Deborah Hromadka and husband Ben Fish; brothers-in-law, Raymond Joe Hromadka Jr. and wife Janice, James Hromadka Sr. and wife Charlotte, and Larry Hromadka Sr. and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Mason Matus, Brent Mynar, Marissa Matus, Kenna Mynar, and Luke Price; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Pallbearers are Marissa Matus, Kenna Mynar, Mason Matus, Brent Mynar, Luke Price, Wilfred Rieger Jr., Garrett Rieger, Marvin Mynar Jr., Leland Mynar and Craig Hromadka. Honorary pallbearers are his nieces and nephews.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Penelope Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of your choice.
