Anne Grimm, age 86, of West, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, September 29, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her three kids, Pat, Suzanne, Betsy, and her loving caregiver and daughter-in-law Valerie Grimm. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2019, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Anne was born February 11, 1933 in West, the daughter of Louis and Annie (Divin) Karlik. She attended St. Mary's School and was a 1951 graduate of West High School, where she was a top performer on the Trojanette basketball team that advanced to the state tournament her senior year. After receiving an associate degree in Bookkeeping from Draugh's Business College in Dallas, Anne was working on the 20th floor of the Alico Building on that fateful day in May 1953, when the deadly Waco tornado ripped through downtown leaving only two buildings standing. On May 25, 1957, Anne was united in marriage to Joe Edd Grimm in West and together they have owned Grimm Insurance Agency since the 1960s. Anne was a lifelong, faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West and a member of KJZT Society #11, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829. Anne believed there was never a dull moment in life, especially with her love of learning. As a child entering St. Marys School, she only spoke Czech but once she began reading she was hooked, especially enjoying the Nancy Drew series. Like Nancy, Anne was determined to solve mysteries and help others which became evident in her extensive collection of family histories for the Karlik, Divin, and Mashek families, a passion she continued to work on up until her illness. If Anne wasnt investigating the possible whereabouts of Czech descendants all over the U.S, or searching through cemetery records for clues, she was organizing file boxes full of her successful genealogy quests. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, watching her grandkids play sports and special Sunday dinners with the whole family. Anne is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mike Grimm; an infant daughter, Mary Beth; and a sister, Joyce Petter. Survivors include her beloved husband of 62 years, Joe Edd Grimm; three children, Pat Grimm and wife Valerie, Suzanne Jares and husband Anthony, and Betsy Browder and husband Glenn, all of West; a daughter-in-law, Gina Grimm Calabro and husband Bob; a brother-in-law, Albin Petter; her loving grandchildren, Cassidy Drenka and husband Mark, Jordan Grimm and wife Julia, Hayden Grimm and fianc Kyley, Nolan Grimm and fianc Peyton, Garrett Jares, Sarah Jares, Emily Jares, Brooke Browder, Blaine Browder and Cole Calabro; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Jordan Grimm, Hayden Grimm, Nolan Grimm, Garrett Jares, Blaine Browder, Cole Calabro, Andy Petter and David Petter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Ambulance Association and West Fire Department.
